Tight Problems
I used to play extremely tight poker online -I figured that if I only played the very best cards, I’d have a much better chance of winning every poker online hand that I played in. It was a decent theory-I did end up winning a decent percentage of the hands that I entered, but eventually I found that the negatives outweighed the positives of playing tight poker all the time. The biggest problem that I had with playing tight was that folding all the time gets a little old. Folding every hand that you’re dealt for two hours straight is mind-numbingly boring, and it’s hard to focus on your poker opponents when your eyes are glazed over and you’re drooling from lack of mental stimulation. Also, when you do get a good hand, your opponents aren’t going to want to play with you. Once the table has seen you folding all night, they’re going to put you on pocket Aces every time you actually put some chips into the pot. Folding all night makes you a predictable poker player. If you don’t get your hand it’ll cost you chips when you fold your blinds, and it’ll minimize your winnings when you get a hand. Playing tight is a solid poker strategy, but be sure to switch gears every now and then to keep your opponents on their toes.
